Mount Meru & Kilimanjaro Combo

This outstanding Mount Meru & Kilimanjaro combo pairs Africa’s fourth-highest free-standing peak, Mount Meru (4,566 m / 14,980 ft), with the continent’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro (5,895 m / 19,341 ft). Starting with the 4-day Meru climb through Arusha National Park provides excellent high-altitude acclimatization, significantly boosting your chances of a successful summit on Kilimanjaro. Meru is a rewarding climb in its own right—steeper and more technically engaging than most Kilimanjaro routes. It features a dramatic collapsed crater, rich wildlife (giraffe, buffalo, baboons, and more), varied vegetation zones, and clear views of Kilimanjaro on the horizon. For Kilimanjaro, we follow the classic Marangu Route (often called the “Coca-Cola Route”), the only route offering permanent mountain-hut accommodation. The 6-day version includes a dedicated acclimatization day at Horombo Hut, improving success rates compared with the shorter 5-day itinerary. Marangu is moderately graded, follows well-maintained trails, and delivers a structured, comfortable experience while still demanding solid fitness and proper pacing. This combo is ideal for strong hikers who want two summit experiences, wildlife encounters on Meru, and the relative comfort of huts on both mountains. A rest/hotel night is normally inserted between the two climbs for recovery and transfer. Sure-footedness and a good head for heights are important, especially on Meru’s summit ridge.
